Gifts for Occasions Throughout the Year.
There are many occasions throughout the year that could use a gift. Gift
giving customs have been in history for quite sometime. Gifts were brought to
Christ after his birth. The gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh were quite
valuable at the time of Christ's birth. This gift giving is what brought upon the
gift giving custom we celebrate at Christmas. Gift giving customs can be
different in many countries and some gifts may be deemed inappropriate.
Always though a gift is given with the heart and should always be received as
the same. Someone probably doesn't know you are allergic to vanilla when they
give you a vanilla scented candle. Most important you should never feel bad when
someone gives you a gift during the holidays and you can not give one in return.
A gift is that a gift and shouldn't need to have one in return. But a nice thank
you is always deserving. Especially when your grandmother sends you something,
she will expect a thank you! Most people will take a phone call, email, or the
most formal a thank you card! Even a little note would be great! Believe it or
not it is the receiving of thanks and how much you liked the gift is the best
gift in return.
When looking for a gift for someone, think about what their interests are. If
they love tea then it would be great to give them something that is tea
orientated. Of course, if you ever receive an unwanted gift please do not
re-gift it, remember a gift is from the heart. As this may find it's way back
to the person that gave you the gift and they would be hurt. However if there is someone that comes
along and really likes the item if they see it, giving it to them would be
considered ok. They wouldn't have to know you didn't like it, you are just
giving them something they really liked because you care for them. Don't hide
gifts that you don't like, especially from friends and family as they could find
out. Just always make sure to consider the person's likes and you can easily
find them a great gift that you know they will like!
Now there are some gifts that shouldn't be given. A woman would not like to
get a weight scale for a gift but on the other hand would love chocolate! Try
not to give personal gifts unless you have a close relationship with the
individual.
